Black & Decker CM1936 Cordless 36 Volt Mower – Demonstration

Short review of this sweet cordless mower. Granted I’ve only owned it for a couple of hours, but it’s awesome. I’ll update this if anything goes bad on it. Shot with a Panasonic ZS3 in AVCHD Lite.

I was just in Lowes today looking at this mower, based on your video, I feel pretty confident about purchasing this product…thanks!!!

@hitmaker00 – thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it. I have owned the mower several months now and still love it. My parents each have one and they are very happy as well.

Thanks for the review, we’re looking at these and this is the only good home vid so far.

I agree with hitmaker00 — your video and feedback on the mower helped me decide to go with it too about a month ago. I love it. Thanks dude!

Thanks for the review. I’m thinking of getting this but I hope they use nimh or even lithium ion or polymer battery technology in the near future. It would be lighter, more powerful, longer runtimes and faster charging times. Probably would be more expensive though in short. But if they sell enough and produce enough, economies of scale can kick in to lower the price.

@pinoyfourlyf – I was thinking, when this battery wears out, I would try to pair up a couple of 18v Ryobi Li-on drill batteries to get the 36v.. but hopefully the stock battery will last a few years anyway.

@ucdcrush Good idea. What is the amp hour for the lawn mower batteries? Anymore videos of the lawn mower cutting grass?

I will not buy this mower, or any electric mower post-1995 or not “Made in U.S.A.” or “Made in Canada.” My B&D electric mowers would date from 1968 to 1987, and would carry one of these model #s: 8010, 8018, 8020, 8021, 8035 or 8040.

Great, simple review. Exactly what I needed. Thanks for showing the height adjustment and the latch for removing the battery. Video makes all the difference.

I’ve own this model as well, just a note of caution: This mower will not cut through really heavy tall grass, it just bogs down to a stop. It’s fine if you keep up with your lawn, but just realize that this mower is *much* less powerful than a gas powered mower. Also, the weight of the mower can be a bit much if your lawn has a decent slope to it. Not the end of the world, still a great product for smaller, decently kept lawns, just recognize it’s limitations.

    • TomZentra:

@cavalier1234 I agree 100%. The CM1936 is very well designed, but it cannot match the power of a gas mower. Even if you mow the lawn regularly there are occasions when you need additional power, such as the beginning of the season, or after an extended period of rain and lawn growth.

Hey, thanks this was a great Help, the B&D Looks pretty cool and simple to use… I’m ready for change from the old back breaking pull to start and Troy Built Elec start I paid a ton for and lasted one year…. Tuki makes a great Rep too !!!

    • ucdcrush:

@MrNJBear – thank you! Glad you liked the review. It is very easy to use, I love not having to deal with gas mowers anymore. This one and the previous B&D electric I had are totally maintenance free and always start as soon as the handle is pulled back :)

Thanks for the review…I just got mine in the mail from Amazon today and am waiting for good weather to give it its first run…. My property normally takes an hour to cut so I am contemplating a second battery.

Great video. I thought about making a video as soon as I got mine but I forgot. I do have a video of the mower after one year. Take a look on my channel.
