Can I use a differant battery in my drill?

I own a 12 volt Ni Cad dewalt drill, both battery’s need replacing. Can I use the lithium battery in place of the Ni Cad and go up in volts

my friend installed 2 wires to a connector somewhere on my driver’s door panel, for me to tap the wires to the positive and negative on the drill battery, when ever i need my windows up or down. the wires came off and now i don’t know where to reconnect them to.
