Are cordless drill machines less powerful than the normal (corded) ones?

Not sure, but I’m buying a drill machine for the first time. Also noticed that the cordless drill machines are rated according to volts whereas the normal ones are rated by watts.
Will I loose out on anything if I go in for a cordless (for convenience)?

Thanks in advance.
which one is better:
Skil or Dewalt or maybe some local company (the ones available on ebay).

New cordless drill emits a spark?

Just bought a new B&D cordless drill. It emits a spark when you press the on button. Is this normal or defective. I can remember my dads old corded drills showing a spark while it was on. He said it was part of the (something) can’t remember. My partner says he’s taking it back but I don’t think it’s anything to fret about.

Whats the best kind of cordless drill?

I have one of those cheap (Jobmate 14.4V) cordless drills . I’m starting to use it a lot more and wanna buy a new better cordless drill. I didn’t want to spend to much, but I relize I’m gonna have to if I want a good one. DeWalt 0, Bosc 0, Black & Decker 0. Is Black & Decker decent? And what Volt do you recommend? I know they have 12V-36V 36V sounds unnecessary. HELP THANKS
